"Truth vs. Fact" by Prof. Vagmita Dubey, Department of Commerce, SICA College, Indore

Truth vs. Fact

If we search the dictionary, it says that the truth is same as fact. Although, the Truth may not be a fact. And a fact may not necessarily be the truth. A fact is something that we know to be true. Some incident we witnessed or someone informed about something. But, a fact may not always be the truth. But our own experiences are always our truth.

On my recent stay at a resort on the bank of river Narmada and amidst the Narmada hills in the outskirts of Indore, I experienced something splendid.

At midnight, while sitting by the river gazing at a tall tree, the leaves of which were swaying with the flow of the wind, I realised how every other life than the human life is fully exposed to the possibilities and the risk of survival at the same time. Human life is illusory. We live in our illusions, our world is so secure, we have been confined to our comfort zones. I realised that every other creature is so different than us. They are fully exposed to life and to all the risks and possibilities of this existence.

We are so confined to our comfort zones and drowned in our own illusions that we are unable to understand the true nature of life and existence. The comforts of our illusory lives have moved us far away from the Truth.

The cage of illusions and comforts has filled us with fear. We have been entangled in such a way that this cage has become our life and coming out of it and facing the existence seems impossible and too risky. We do not want to experience what the life is actually about, what the existence actually is. All we want is to experience the best of comforts in life. Having variety of comforts is also our most important parameter for measuring success in life. But in this process, we often forget about happiness being the ultimate nature of any life in this existence. Our illusions have somehow moved us away from our real and ultimate nature.

  5. Indeed! We could have been happier the other way.. I really feel the way of living has been gotten all wrong by us.In this race of survival, we have transformed ourselves against the nature..no wonder so many shortcomings we face in well-being & health aspects, happiness & more even after being “wealthy” as we call it.

Character is the essence of Good Management by Prof. Anuradha Mishra, SICA College, Indore

CHARACTER IS THE ESSENCE OF GOOD MANAGEMENT Once Dave Ulrich, the Michigan-based HR guru stated that “Everything about leadership radiates from character.” The world knows that people who became successful business leaders had shown a great deal of integrity, commitment and strength of character. They demonstrated a remarkable amount of integration between thought, word and deed. They established themselves as  honest, transparent and trustworthy individuals.  People with character have strong sense of values. Having a sense of values means being guided in your thinking and actions by an inner code of standards and abstaining from what you consider as wrong. Values are built in organizations as well.  Take the example of TATA group: 26/11 was the biggest crisis, TATA Group ever faced. But during the attacks, the hotel staff of TAJ Hotel displayed acts of heroism, including janitor, waiter, captain , directors, artisans. The staff not only showed courage by protecting people inside the
