Importance of choice of Career for leading a happy life by Prof. Amrita Pandya, SICA College, Indore

Importance of Career choice for leading a happy life

In our personal lives, it is important to have a career development plan. We will be able to make our families and friends happy and proud by following an optimum career development plan and through this we will be able to reach our goals that we have always dreamt of.

Sometimes, people work for a long time in the wrong field just for the sake of fulfilling their financial needs and for survival. Actually, this problem must be solved by changing the career itself which is the most difficult step.

Career development is a very important aspect of our work as well as personal life. In our work lifeit’s important because none of us wants or wishes to stay in the same job and the same position for ever. It is important to have growth in life. Without the career development plan we will not be able to improve ourselves and get promoted.

Self-assessment is the first step of the career planning process. During self-assessment, you gather information about yourself in order to make an informed career decision. A self-assessment program should include a look at the following:

Values: The things that are important to you like achievement, status, and autonomy.

Interests: What you enjoy doing i.e. playing golf, taking long walks, hanging out with friends.

Personality: A person’s individual traits, motivational drives, needs, and attitudesThe personality is when you ask yourself about what type of person are you? Do you like to work alone or with a team? For example, if you have an introvert personality, you are going to face a lot of problems if you work in a job that requires presentations or public speaking.

Skills:

You have to look at what are you good at and what are the skills that you have to improve. This is a very important question that you have to ask yourself about in order to find a job that meets all your skills otherwise you will have to face obstacles. For exampleif you get a job that requires using the computer as a major tool and you are not good at using it, you will face problems.

In addition to determining what you’re good at, a skills assessment program also helps figure out what we enjoy doing. The most important goals of Self-Assessment are:

• To enhance the self-awareness and confidence of your decisions
• To know what are your strengths and weaknesses.

Setting- up the Direction Process- You should work on yourself. You should create a network with professional experts, experienced personalities, attend some workshop, seminars etcInformation and training sessions for employees such as seminars presented by professionals on a broad range of topics are of interest to job seekers.

Workshops can be carried out in order to gather the maximum number of people with different culture and knowledge and then divide them into groups to share ideas and points with each other besides learning from other’s mistakes and experiences.

A good career choice is that which takes into consideration our nature, interests and short-term as well as long-term needs and it is important for satisfaction and happiness in life. The more we are satisfied and enthusiastic about our work, the better our emotional and psychological health becomes.

  18. Thoughts are nice but lot to be done in terms of putting them together as a blog.
    1. Content of the blog should be more cohesive. eg. Self-assessment is a nice idea but how workshops should be conducted doesn't make sense here.
    2. Try to use simpler words and smaller sentences.
    3. Use highlights/bold letters carefully

Your state "We will be able to make our families and friends happy and proud by following an optimum career development plan".
    Why not start with self-satisfaction?

Best wishes and looking forward for your next blogpost.

"Truth vs. Fact" by Prof. Vagmita Dubey, Department of Commerce, SICA College, Indore

Truth vs. Fact I f we search the dictionary, it says that the truth is same as fact. Although, the Truth may not be a fact. And a fact may not necessarily be the truth. A fact is something that we know to be true. Some incident we witnessed or someone informed about something. But, a fact may not always be the truth. But our own experiences are always our truth. On my recent stay at a resort on the bank of river Narmada and amidst the Narmada hills in the outskirts of Indore, I experienced something splendid. At midnight, while sitting by the river gazing at a tall tree, the leaves of which were swaying with the flow of the wind, I realised how every other life than the human life is fully exposed to the possibilities and the risk of survival at the same time. Human life is illusory. We live in our illusions, our world is so secure, we have been confined to our comfort zones. I realised that every other creature is so different than us. They are fully exposed to life and to all the ris

Character is the essence of Good Management by Prof. Anuradha Mishra, SICA College, Indore

CHARACTER IS THE ESSENCE OF GOOD MANAGEMENT Once Dave Ulrich, the Michigan-based HR guru stated that “Everything about leadership radiates from character.” The world knows that people who became successful business leaders had shown a great deal of integrity, commitment and strength of character. They demonstrated a remarkable amount of integration between thought, word and deed. They established themselves as  honest, transparent and trustworthy individuals.  People with character have strong sense of values. Having a sense of values means being guided in your thinking and actions by an inner code of standards and abstaining from what you consider as wrong. Values are built in organizations as well.  Take the example of TATA group: 26/11 was the biggest crisis, TATA Group ever faced. But during the attacks, the hotel staff of TAJ Hotel displayed acts of heroism, including janitor, waiter, captain , directors, artisans. The staff not only showed courage by protecting people inside the
